West Village Business Spotlight- Shorty Small's
Good Food and Big Fun - you can have the best of both worlds at the recently renovated Shorty Smalls. The establishment has been a staple of the West Little Rock Community since the late Seventies. It’s a great gathering place for family and friends in the area. While there are many Shorty Smalls locations, the location on Rodney Parham stands out as the original.
The building has a new look with a truck attached to the sign that makes it recognizable, but that is not the only change that this staple has undergone to rebrand and become a new favorite all over again. The menu now has healthier options like salads, vegetables, and proteins thanks to the suggestions of the owner, Paul Kreth’s wife, Stacy Pendergrast, “I thought the menu needed some healthy options for people,” she said. The new Tuscan Farmhouse Salad is wonderful.
Some of the old favorites that many people love like the Handcut Steaks, giant cheese sticks and the Shorty’s World Famous jumping off the bone ribs are still on the menu, along with great burgers and catfish. The full bar is always fun with many options. The drink specials of $.99 mimosas on Sundays are very popular, along with $5.00 bottles of champagne. You can also find brunch specials on Sunday!
The restaurant and bar boasts 5,000 square feet with new technology utilized by wait staff to expedite speedy service. The staff is trained using the HATCH table method to promote positive problem solving techniques that have produced team players that provide the friendliest and best atmosphere for diners. Staff also benefit from the perk point system for free meals.
Certain nights you may be lucky enough to strike gold with the gold coin meal program. You never know when they will come to your table with a gold coin for a chance to win!
Paul Kreth owns the establishment and David Rackley, the General Manager, is in charge of operations. Stop in soon for lunch, dinner or brunch to get a taste of the ultimate in dining pleasure at Shorty’s.
